Mt Barney Expedition

For the more adventurous, a guided expedition up Mt Barney is the ultimate challenge and is a class 5 track.

Enjoy the freedom and solitude of the World Heritage-listed Mt Barney National Park, and take advantage of our experience and local knowledge. When participating on a mountain expedition, you may get to leave the tracks behind and explore some of the more challenging ridges and routes available. Interpretive information on plants, animals, history and geology of the area will contribute to this memorable experience.

This walk is both physically and mentally challenging!

We have guided Mt Barney guided hike's coming up on Monday 24th September, Tuesday 2nd October and Friday 5th October - bookings are essential!!

Activity Information:

 

Cost: $150 per person
Includes a full expedition food pack per person, all ropes required, all first aid equipment, fully qualified & experienced Outdoor Guide(s), flower identification books and public liability insurance (Does not include camping or accommodation).

Age: 15+ 

Requirement for group numbers: 3 -10 people depending on route taken. Or minimum 3 person tariff. 

Start Time: Early morning 

Duration of Activity: All day (8-14hrs).

The hike usually concludes at approx 4.30pm. We recommend that you book camping or accommodation to allow the 5am start, and to relax and enjoy your achievements after you return. You can check availability here.

Meeting Place: the Office  

 

What to bring: 3 litres of water, hat, sunscreen, any medication, warm clothes/raincoat, a small day pack and wear comfortable closed-in shoes. (A gear-list will be provided upon reservation.) 

Fitness Requirement: This is a full day expedition which requires a high fitness level and the ability to carry a daypack with equipment and own personal gear.
