Standing over 1300m high, Mt Barney is Queensland’s most impressive peak and these school holidays Mt Barney Lodge challenges you to conquer the giant with the support of our trained guides.
This awe-inspiring climb is not for the faint-hearted, as it involves a full day of hiking, but the view from the top is worth every bead of sweat. As the hike requires a high amount of fitness, this is the perfect holiday challenge for fit and adventurous teenagers, 15 years and over, wanting to push their limits and achieve something incredible.
The Mt Barney Expedition is a full-day hike in the World Heritage-listed Mt Barney National Park and the activity is designed for participants to immerse themselves in the mountain’s natural beauty and be guided safely to the summit. As well as guiding the walk, Mt Barney Lodge’s experienced Outdoor Leaders will also provide interpretive information on plants, animals, history and geology of the area, contributing to the memorable experience.
A 5am start will see participants beat the heat of the day as they commence their ascent to the summit and once at the peak, will stop for a well-deserved lunch and rest. The mountain boasts some of the best and most picturesque views of the Scenic Rim along with 360 degree views of the region. Hikers will return to Mt Barney Lodge at about 4:30pm.
The next Mt Barney Expeditions will run on the 18 October and cost $150 per person which includes a full expedition food pack, all ropes required, all first aid equipment, full qualified and experienced Outdoor Guide(s), flower identification books and public liability insurance.
As the hike consists of an early start and late finish, we encourage participants to book camping or accommodation the night before and after the hike.
