Friday, May 18, 2018

Scenic Rim Eat Local Week 2018 is just around the corner and the region is eagerly preparing for its largest event of the year.

The annual event is a major tourism drawcard for the Scenic Rim, attracting thousands of foodies from across the country wanting to sample some of the best and freshest locally grown produce the country has to offer. Attendees will celebrate the region’s food, farmers and natural beauty through a program of festivals, farm gate events and various culinary experiences.

Running from June 30 to July 8, Eat Local Week is the perfect time to holiday at Mt Barney Lodge as our grounds are close to many of the surrounding farm events being held across the week.

As part of Eat Local Week 2018, Mt Barney Lodge is also hosting a Kid’s Bush Tucker Tracker activity on the 1,3 and 7 July. Kids will be guided into nature with our outdoor leaders to discover native wildlife, as well as taste native bush tucker where it grows wild. Learning through play, as well as a few icebreaker games, will ensure the kids will have loads of fun. This hands-on and tastebuds-on activity is not to be missed out on.

Don’t miss out on Scenic Rim 4Real Milk farm tour - a popular annual event which attracts thousands of people. Visit the robotic dairy, see where the milk is bottled and meet Farmer Gregie – Australia’s Dairy Farmer of the Year 2014. If you love the taste of Scenic Rim 4Real Milk, we sell a range of the products at the Mt Barney Lodge office, as well as stocking a complimentary old-fashioned glass milk bottle in the homesteads and huts for your use .

Staying at Mt Barney Lodge gives guests an authentic experience of the Scenic Rim region. Nestled right at the foothills of Mt Barney and next to the national park, the picturesque sweeping landscape is the classic image of the Scenic Rim. Stay in one of our large Queenslander style homesteads for a truly authentic country experience. The refurbished homesteads are around a century old but are set up to be self-contained with all the comforts of a modern day kitchen, spacious rooms and large wrap-around verandas, perfect for entertaining. Best of all, in the various Eat Local Week farm tours are just a scenic drive from the property.
